Dušan Milenković

Dusan Milenkovic, Ph. D. (1991) is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Nis, Serbia.

He earned his BA in philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Nis in 2014 (with his final paper titled “The Crisis of Classical Music of the 20th Century and its Philosophical Roots – A Reading of ‘Doctor Faustus’ by Thomas Mann”). In 2016, he got his MA degree in philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Novi Sad, with an MA thesis “Dewey’s Pragmatist Theory of Aesthetic Experience”.

In 2023, he defended his Ph.D. thesis “The Role of Form in Aesthetics of Popular Music” with SUMMA CUM LAUDE at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Novi Sad.

His main interests in aesthetics include aesthetics of music, history of aesthetics, pragmatism and pragmatist aesthetics, and contemporary American aesthetics.

At the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Nis, he is conducting courses on aesthetics, history of aesthetics, aesthetics of music, and aesthetics and popular culture. Over the years, he had also conducted courses on the history of contemporary philosophy, epistemology, history of ethics, and philosophical methodology.

He is the creator and coordinator of the official website of the Serbian Association for Aesthetics, with which he has been collaborating since 2013.

He is a member of the Board of Directors at Serbian Association for Aesthetics, as well as one of the founding members and a member of the current Steering Committee at the European Network for Philosophy of Music.
